Rehearsals
The GLPB CENTRAL rehearse on Wednesday nights every week from 7:30 to 9:00 pm starting July 2. We
rehearse at the Unity of Greater Lansing in the Fellowship Hall. There are no auditions. Please email us ahead
of time to make sure we have music prepared for you.
The GLPB is wanting to start an EASTERN division with rehearsals on Wednesday nights on the opposite weeks
from 7:30 to 9:00 pm at Metropolitan Community Church Detroit (also known as Drayton Avenue Church) in
Ferndale, MI. Please see our calendar for details.
Instrumentation
Woodwind Players - flute, piccolo, clarinet, saxophones
Brass Players - trumpets, French horns/mellophones, trombones, baritones, tuba/sousaphones
Percussionists - snare, tri toms, quads, bass drum, cymbals, bells
Requirements
- We prefer you are able to read music. Members must be 18 and older. Special allowances may be
made for those younger on a case-by-case basis.
- Try to bring a music stand or instrument music lyre.
- You need to own your own instrument, or make arrangements to rent one. We may have a lead on a
loaned instrument or a special rental arrangement, so talk to us about larger or unusual instruments.
- If you have not played in years, don’t worry! Our musicians have a wide range of skills. Many are having
fun while catching up on their music skills, or even learning new instruments.
- Two musical rehearsals and one marching rehearsal are required prior to a parade. Requirements for
participation in a concert are TBD.
- Annual membership dues are $25/year with a $15/year Pride uniform fee
Again, don't worry if you have not played in years. We want to make membership in our group a fun musical
experience for all levels of playing ability!
Volunteer opportunites
Become one of the GLPB BAND-aids! We are looking for people who would volunteer the time to help the band
at performance, especially during Pride.
- Banner Carriers (multiple)
- Water Bearers (multiple) to help during the parades
- Equipment and Instrument Haulers
*Note, we need volunteers to be in our uniform.
